The pretty port city of Monopoli is a fantastic choice for those seeking a base for their Puglian adventures.
It’s big enough to have a healthy selection of accommodation options, countless fantastic restaurants, a selection of attractions for you discover slowly, and be ideally located within very manageable driving distances to many of the the region’s top towns, villages, beaches and historical sights.
It also has more than hundreds of Airbnbs in its old town alone! This means that picking just one for your holiday can take time, patience and the capacity to look at a lot of photos.

Know // There are a dearth of large properties in Monopoli, with the vast, vast majority being one or two bedrooms, and the remaining three-bed + apartments and houses being either: perfectly fine but nothing terribly special (and therefore not making this list) or located outside of the historical centre. This means that if you’re a larger family travelling to Puglia, this gorgeous town may not be the best choice as a base.

If you’re passionate about contemporary interior design, be sure to take a look at this fantastically modern apartment. Successfully marrying East London loft vibes with more traditional Pugliese elements, it has a full kitchen, studio style bedroom and even free bikes.
Located just outside the old town, the nearby free parking makes it a good shout for those doing a Puglia road trip.

Mamylù La Mia Casa Margherita
One of our absolute favourites in this list, we just adore the decor in this beautiful apartment. It’s located in the downtown area rather than the historical district, but still within easy walking distance to all of Monopoli’s attractions (including the beach).
If we were looking for a longer base in Monopoli, this would likely be it!

Attico Sul Porto Antico
Whilst the interiors are super modern and finished to a high standard, what you’re really paying for in this property is the truly spectacular roof terrace. It’s huge (around 100 square metres), feautures and alfresco dining area, multiple sun bathing/lounging areas and even a hot tub - all to be enjoyed with 360 degree views of Monopoli.

Casa Taralli
Tucked one street back from the Lungomare on a quiet lane in Monopoli’s historic centre, Casa Taralli sits inside a carefully restored 17th-century house, where original barrel-vaulted arches frame a warm, contemporary interior. Renovated in 2024, the apartment is compact but well resolved, with a generous kitchen-living space, a calm bedroom with en-suite shower, and thoughtful details throughout.
To be fair, they had us at multi-coloured moka pots!

Casa Katha is a thoughtfully restored apartment on the upper floor of a historic building in Monopoli’s old town, where original stonework and local materials give the space real texture. Inside, rooms are calm and well balanced - a characterful dining area with exposed tuff walls, a practical tiled kitchen, and a living space that doubles comfortably for a third guest — with windows opening onto the narrow lanes and a glimpse of the sea from the bedroom. There’s also access to a shared terrace above the rooftops with plenty of space to sunbathe or enjoy a golden hour aperitivo.

Heritage Central Apartment
This fully renovated apartment is on the first floor of a small two-storey building, built in stone at the end of the 19th century. It is typical of the Monopoli style, with its green shutters, original geometric tile flooring, high vaulted ceilings and huge windows (meaning an apartment that is drenched in light.
Fantastically, not only does it have a cute little balcony beyond those green shutters, but also a wonderful little hidden away roof terrace replete with sun loungers!

La Verticale Due
Proof that if you go even a few minutes (by foot) beyond the historical centre, the prices drop quite considerably, this small but perfectly formed one-bedroom apartment is really well priced, even in the peak summer months.
With a super modern design throughout, it’s bright and airy, plus its location at the top of a three-storey building means it benefits from a really good-sized private terrace with views out to the sea.

A modern re-imagination of a traditional Pugliese home (it was in fact an old fisherman’s cottage), this stunning property is all curved lines, soft finishes and contemporary design. A fantastic location right the harbour with views out over the colourful boats - we kind of love it.

La Casetta di Gió
This studio Airbnb is so.damn.cool!
Located in a traditional Pugliese cave style building, it definitely won’t suit everyone - but it’s absolutely perfect for active younger couples and single travellers, and if you love a bit of quirky style we’d highly recommend you take a look.
Do note that it has only a small kitchen but its location right next to the cathedral means that you’re ideally located for restaurants and bars. It’s also very affordable.
